Positive 2nd quarter for the UK car industry- July 2011
Great news for the UK car manufacturing industry, with production continuing to grow for the second quarter this year. Growth has been recorded at 4.1% over the first 6 months compared to 2010, with it being helped by the 1.8% increase that was seen in June.
This is a very promising sign for the industry, which has experienced volume struggles in the past months due to the Japanese earthquakes in April which took their toll. However the industry is now showing signs of it regaining its stability as Japanese production facilities have now started to return back to full capacity once again.
It has been predicted that demand is going to stay constant through the rest of 2011, with car exports expected to hit the 1 million mark which is a huge benefit for the UK economy- with these figures previously being hit pre-recession.
With Labfax traditionally enjoying business within this sector we also felt the effects of this tough time, therefore are extremely pleased with the recovery and are excited to see what the future holds.

Interpack 2011- May 2011
Last week our team visited the Interpack Processes and Packaging Exhibition in Dusseldorf, with this being a good chance for us to see what labelling solutions are currently available that could fit into our product range.
Over the period of the 2 days that we were there we were able to visit out current suppliers as well as searching for new opportunities and gaps in the market that we hope to enter in the near future.
As we are the UK reseller for Cab we were very excited to visit their stand to see the 2 new products that were being launched at the event.
One of the new products was the Cab EOS series, which this now being their entry level thermal transfer print. This is the first label printer to be fitted with a touch screen as standard making it easy to call up existing labels, add data and print them off – all without being connected to a PC. Complete labels can be saved to a USB memory stick or the internal memory of the EOS printer making it extremely easy to use and function.
The second product that was Launched was the HS and VS semi automatic label dispensers, which have been introduced to replace the cab HS 150. The new label dispensers from cab deliver outstanding precision for the positioning of labels at adjustable dispensing speeds and fully rewind label backing at the same time.
We feel that both of these products are great additions into the product range, as they feature up to date hardware and software enabling our users to benefit from high quality labelling applications.
Whilst at the exhibition there were a range of labelling applications that caught our eye, and with our team at Labfax always looking for innovative solutions it gave us the chance to establish new connections that will potentially help us to expand our product range in the future.

Positive news for the West Midlands automotive industry- 18th April 2011
Jaguar Land Rover has announced that march 2011 was its best sales month in it's 63 year history, despite the UK automotive industry seeing an 8% drop in new car sales as a whole.
It was recorded that 11,400 vehicles in the Land Rover brand were sold last month, resulting in a 6% jump in global sales- with increased demand being seen from the emerging markets such as Russia, China and India.
It is expected that new records will be set in the next few years as the car market continues to boom after the slump of the recent recession, with them establishing their selves in new markets as luxury car dealers.
In response to this massive increase in demand, Tata the Indian conglomerate that owns Land Rover, has announced that it will be hiring an extra 1,000 new staff in the West Midlands and 1,500 at it's Halewood Plant.
Along with this, the first MG Rover rolled off of the production line yesterday at the Longbridge plant in Birmingham 6 years after the factory was closed; which created thousands of job losses and hugely effected the local economy.
The new MG6 is the result of the first large scale production at this site, with the new model being manufactured in Shanghai and assembled at the Longbridge site. As a result of the reopening of the plant over 400 jobs have been created, with this number hopefully increasing in the near future.
This increase in demand has been a huge benefit to the automotive industry within the West Midlands, which has suffered many losses in the past couple of years due to the recession that caused a sudden drop in demand. With Labfax traditionally enjoying business within this sector we also felt the effects of this tough time, therefore are extremely pleased with the recovery and are excited to see what the future holds.
New Range of self adhesive labels- 25th march 2011
We are adding a range of self adhesive tapes, foams and felts to our product line suitable for the automotive and aerospace industries.
These can be supplied in a variety of lengths and sizes to suit individual requirements suitable for anti rattle, bonding and lamination.
Print Head Wipes- Box of 50 individually packed wipes for only £10!
The print head is the most critical component of your printer and one of the most delicate and expensive parts to replace. As a direct result of improper care of your print head the quality of your printing will dramatically decrease, as well as you having to spend more money on replacing the print heads prematurely.
Printer manufacturers recommend regular cleaning of the printhead to remove any build up of residue caused by label dust, adhesive and dirt in the atmosphere. This build up of residue will, over time, become baked onto the printhead. This will then interfere with heat transfer, causing the heater elements to overheat to the point of failure.
By purchasing print head wipes you will be able to maintain a high quality of printing as well as saving you money in the long run!
Phone us today on 0845 519 2410 to order your print head wipes or email us on sales@labfax.co.uk

Launch of speciality labelling system for jewellery 10th January 2011
By working with a major UK Jewellery high street retailer we have been able to launch a labelling system that meets the needs of the jewellery market.
It enables the retailer to better manage its inventory and, at the same time, to ensure that its products are presentable in jewellery stores. And when its fully implemented it saves the retailer money by eliminating waste and unnecessary activity.
Our system provides durable labels that do not breakdown during ultra-sonic cleaning. The labels are both rub and scratch resistant ensuring that the information printed on them is always clean and legible and the adhesive pattern has been designed to ensure that there is no adhesive contact with the jewellery itself.
Danny Onions, our Sales manager, says: 'this has been a good project to work on because it delivers advantages all round. The customer has a specific need which required a specific response. I'm pleased that we were able to deliver.'
